A successful programme continues: The 4th IconVention Online will once again offer a series of online seminars, covering various aspects of vestibular infiltration treatment. Several prominent, internationally recognized infiltration experts have been engaged as speakers. Participation is free of charge.

This time, the thematic focus is on developmental enamel opacities, with special emphasis on MIH. The series of events is extensively dedicated to the topic and provides insights into gentle treatment options. The topic will be examined in depth, both scientifically and clinically.

MIH Lesion Mapping: Transillumination Insights

Molar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) presents a significant challenge in dentistry due to its varied presentation and impact on dental health. Various classification and scoring systems, notably the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry (EAPD) criteria, have been developed to describe MIH. These systems primarily focus on molar teeth and rely on reflected light, which offers limited surface-level information about the lesions.

This presentation explores the limitations of current classification systems and introduces transillumination as a diagnostic tool for a more comprehensive assessment of MIH lesions. Unlike reflected light, transillumination provides enhanced visualization of the lesion's internal structure, offering better diagnostic accuracy. We propose a novel approach to describe and map MIH lesions on permanent anterior teeth using both reflected and transilluminated light.
